The Rochester Building and Construction Trades Council was formed in 1965. They represent over 16,000 trades people in the Rochester area. The Building Trades Council was formed to create working conditions that provide fair wages and benefits to the thousands of men and women they represent.
For example, each year, members receive over $100 million in spending power, $60 million in wages, $22 million in pension benefits and $20 million in Health and Welfare benefits that are distributed throughout the community. These funds are directly channeled back into the local economy, contributing to the overall fiscal health of the metropolitan area.
The Rochester Building Trades Council is involved. in a wide variety of community volunteer projects such as Camp Good Days and Special Times and are major contributors to the United Way. They also provide scholarship awards for college educations amounting to over $25,000.
